In search of new talent at Helium Prime Media, a record label founded by Producer Peezey Cables and rapper Eddie Black, Eddie Black a few weeks ago shared the instrumental (with hook) of his hit single ‘Where are you?’ feat Lady Vogue to allow other rappers/singers do their versions of the song. This was in effect an audition which received over 10 submissions and Brawen happened to have done the best version.

Hip hop is a culture and rap is a component. Rap is something you do hip-hop is something you live there is a difference.
Hip-hop is not just getting on the mic and spitting bars, hip-hop is a culture for instance: it’s bigger than the Zulu culture or the Masai culture, it has crossed cultural boundaries that other music genres have never crossed. Hip-hop is not only the music you listen to but it’s the way you talk,walk,dress and act. It is a living thing and can address issues outside of religion conflicts, opportunities for artistic interaction. Hip-hop artist have also been known to spread messages of love,peace and acceptance that cross cultural and racial boundaries. Hip-hop is much more interesting art in which the rapper uses his rhymes to talk about topics other than sex, money and murder. For example the rapper Talib Kweli never does songs about who he has killed, but he fills his albums with retrospectives about his life, his opinions on politics, love, and basically whatever he feels is worth discussing.
Street language has become a pidgin language of sorts. Even if hip hoppers have different first languages, they still can understand the slang of hip hop because this culture is bounded linguistically for instance a Chinese or Filipino hip hopper can use the same slang an African American uses eg to describe the word ‘Excellent’ they’ll say Da Bomb,Dope,All That, to call a friend they’ll say ‘My N****,Hommie,My G’

Rap, is part of the Hip Hop culture ,it is more concerned with what is going o­n in popular culture. rap stars like Eminem, 50 Cent, and Lil’ Wayne frequently rap about the prevalence of drug dealing where they are from, sex and women. Whereas hip hop strives to push its listeners to look forward to a better tomorrow, rap music is all about “telling it like it is” in the here and now.
So basically Hip Hop is a culture of spreading messages of love, peace, anti-racism, and human uplift, while Rap is a subset of Hip Hop.

Interview With Zambia’s Upcoming Dancehall Artist KALADOSHAS

Hi readers ,i had the privilege to interview Zambia’s upcoming dancehall artists today and he goes by the name KALADOSHAS i must say he is FIRE !

Kaladoshas “the best” now also known as The Field Marshal storms not only the Zambian music scene but the whole world with his brand new Dance hall hit single ”Roll”. Signed under Tilimo Entertainment, an upcoming Zambian entertainment company which wishes to invest in Zambian art, surely the sky will only be the beginning for this young dance Hall artist who hopes to take over the dance hall scene.

At what age did you realize have this talent ?

• At 11

Which artists inspire you to sing ? Who do you admire ?

• Don’t really have inspiration or people I admire I just listen to all types of music and just feel the melody. Different types of emotion inspire me to sing that’s what brings out my music. But like in Zambia people like Daddy Zemus, Crystal Shaun, Alubusu made me realise that dancehall could be done in Zambia. I like Paul Ngozi as well, talented individual.

With all the stigma and struggles attached to the music and entertainment industry, why venture into it ?

• Hahaha you got questions hey lol ehhh,Honestly music is something in me and I can’t let go, the only reason av ventured into the industry is cause I wanna help it grow, want to show what Zambia is capable of doing. Zambia to the top

For someone listening to your music, they should be left with a feeling of knowing and understanding you; almost as if you beta your soul for the world to see. What would you want people to say and think about you based on your music?

•You’re good,you’re really good. I would want them to say I changed the Zambian music scene and spearheaded the new generation of Zambian music that produces quality international and local music. That artist that made Zambian get recognised on the world map

If you had to choose only one,which one of your songs would you choose to be the soundtrack of your life and why?

•Your blog is orderly, very impressive work and your writing as well is superb. Nice! Ummmm currently got out of a relationship so my music has been more on the love side lol so don’t think I have that song yet but Roll which I released year is good people like it😉

Music and entertainment is generally very demanding on an artists time;How do you manage your personal relationships with family and friends when you are not in studio or performing?

•Am a very blessed artist I should say, so I don’t have to record a million songs to have a good song, each song I do is carefully done so I don’t spend a lot of time in studio, so I have some time to spare for other things,Don’t need a lot of studio time. What takes more time is promotion, trying to sell the artist, things like “interviews” lol

•Is this an exam or an interview lol? Jhene Aiko, because she’s sexy,mysterious and looks simple but has more to her within that’s what my music is except the mysterious part lol

•Local- Danny, Exile, Mampi, JK, Kmillian cause they held they game for some time and would wanna coloborate with them so they signify the passing on of the torch to this coming generation us, the new international Zambian sound

As a musician, music videos are sometimes bigger than the song depending on who did it. Which cinematographer/director do you dream to work with?

• Collin Tilley, he does most of Chris Browns videos, he did the new flame Oh and an international artist I would like to work with is Rihanna

What is the one life lesson you would like to share with everyone ?

• Be humble, no matter what you achieve or how high you get. Humility is what describes true greatness

Which one music award do you dream of receiving and how long do you think it will take you to get it?How much effort do you need to put in to get to the level of the award?

•Oscar,how long? honestly I think only God could tell cause right now winning an oscar is a dream just like you put it in your question. Effort, a whole lot of it would be needed but we never say never, with God anything is possible. I have the Talent that cannot be doubted

If there was one song in history you wish you had written and performed, what song would that be?

A Dead Beat Dad is a male who fathers a child and makes no contributions to its rearing, providing neither emotional nor financial help to his family.

I wont stop spreading this word to my fellow sisters, DO NOT hold on to a man who does not love you, save your beautiful self the trouble, be patient and wait, get yourself a good man and be financially stable enough to take care of an infant. You dont take breaks from being a parent, its something you’ve signed up for life,make sure you are ready 😘.

Due to circumstances beyond some individuals control,some people end up having a child by someone they never meant to be with. What grinds my gears is how a sane person just gets up one morning just to say Sorry i aint ready or it aint mine , REALLY ? 😐 Man, you were ready to slide in bust a nut, lol the f*** you mean you aint ready to take care of this responsibility? 😒 You ladies need to be careful with some of these men you get it down with.

I took sometime to discuss this particular matter with a number of men online and this what some had to say;

Whatever the case, there is no

Now think,are you going to will walk away with a smile not ever thinking about how your kid will need you as he/she grows, yes you are irresponsible but if you let a child live that way, then your are heartless.

My word to single mothers is I testify that as you do your very best in the most difficult of challenges,heaven will smile upon you. Truly you are not alone. Let the redemptive, loving power of God brighten your life now and fill you with the hope of eternal promise,it has not been easy being a single parent 😘 take courage,have faith and hope. Consider the present with fortitude and look to the future with confidence,it shall be well with you. ❤️
